Building the practice
ChatGPT does not know my business. How do I give AI the context it needs?
The short answer. It gives you generic answers because it knows nothing about your practice. Fix that by writing two things down once: what your practice is, and how you want the AI to work with you. Then make it read both before it answers.
Why the answers sound like everybody else
Ask an AI to draft a client email and it writes a polite, competent email from nobody in particular. It does not know who your clients are, what you sell, what you charged last time or how you sign off. Most of what it gets wrong comes from not knowing your situation, and that is fixable.
Two things to write down, and they are different
The brain is what it knows. Your offer and your price. Who your clients are. What you have decided and why. The facts about your practice, kept in one place, so the AI has something real to work from.
The how file is how it behaves. Your voice. What it may do on its own and what it must always bring back to you. The words you never use. How you like things handed over.
I teach these as two separate things, because they change at different speeds. Your price might change this month. The way you write should not.
Write it once, keep it current
In ChatGPT or Claude, a project with both files added is enough to start. You do not have to write it all on day one. Start with your offer, your clients and your voice. When the AI gets something wrong because it did not know a fact, add the fact. When it does something you did not want, add the rule.
Then check it can use it
Ask it what it knows about your practice and read the answer. If you connect it to your other tools, test the connection by asking it to write something, not just read. A connection that can only read looks like it works right up until you need it to do something.
If you already run a practice with clients
Working out what goes in the brain and the how file is easier with somebody asking the questions. That is what the AI Deep Dive is for: CHF 750, ninety minutes, one to one, on how you run your practice today. You leave with a written, personalised strategy for where AI can take work off you, and your options for doing it.
Questions people ask
Why does ChatGPT give me generic answers about my business?
Because it knows nothing about your practice unless you tell it. Write down what your practice is and how you want it to work with you, and have it read both first.
What is the difference between a brain and a how file?
The brain is what the AI knows: your offer, price, clients and decisions. The how file is how it behaves: your voice, what it may do alone and what it must bring back to you.
How do I check the AI has the right context?
Ask it what it knows about your practice and read the answer. If you connect it to other tools, test each connection with a real write, not a read.
